On August 19, the 18th National Student Intelligent Vehicle Competition National Finals was successfully concluded in Tianjin. The students from School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, led by instructors Yue Min and Huang Xiaochi, achieved the excellent results of the second prize in the national finals.
The National Intelligent Vehicle Competition for College Students is an exploratory engineering practice activity for college students nationwide based on the concept of "based on cultivation, emphasizing on participation, encouraging exploration and pursuing excellence". The competition aims to encourage college students to form teams, comprehensively apply multidisciplinary knowledge, solve complex problems, stimulate the interest and potential of college students to engage in engineering and technology development and scientific research, and advocate the academic style of connecting theory with practice, seeking truth and pragmatism, and the humanistic spirit of teamwork.
Since the start of the competition in July, it has been organized in the way of regional selection and national finals, and has completed the selection of the finals teams in five regions in Northeast, North, East, South and West China, and three provincial regions in Anhui, Shandong and Zhejiang, attracting a total of 3,138 teams and more than 10,000 college students from all over the country to take part in the competition. In the subregional selection, our team won two first prizes, one second prize and three third prizes in the East China competition, and stood out from all the participating teams, successfully advancing to the national finals. Although there was only half a month's preparation time from the selection to the national finals, under the great attention of the Academic Affairs Office, Engineering Training Center (College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship), and the care and support of the College and the Automotive Science and Innovation Base, the participating teachers and students showed the competitive spirit of striving for excellence and hard work, and the members of the team gave full play to their professional knowledge, optimized the algorithms, improved the structure, and overcame the scorching summer heat to prepare for the competition in the holidays.
